Fantasy F1 Rules

1) Members/New-Members

  a) This website is open to everyone. Membership is open all season.

2) Initial Budget/Roster Requirements

  a) You will have a budget of $60 million to spend on a fantasy roster.
    1) Rosters created after season begins will incur cost of 3 swaps of their 9 total. This is to keep everything on a level playing field. Making 3 selections late in the season cost same 3 swaps an existing member would use to change all 3 of their roster picks same as yours.

  b) Roster must consist of a minimum of 2 drivers and 1 constructor (pit team optional.)

3) Roster Management

a) You will be given 9 roster selections for the season. 6 swaps at season start, and 3 more swaps at mid-season break.

b) Removing a 3rd driver, 2nd constructor or pit team never counts as a swap. (adding or swapping 3rd driver or 2nd constructor incurs typical swap cost) *

c). Sell swaps for $.75m each or buy extra swaps for $1.5m each.

Click for Examples
    1. Example 1 - You have 2 drivers, and swap one $30m driver for a second $15m driver and add a third $15m driver. This     counts only as one swap.

    2. Example 2- You have 3 drivers and drop the third $15m driver and the second $15m driver, and spend the full $30m on   a new second driver. This counts only as one swap.

c) Selecting no pit team will incur -10pts. No swaps needed to add/remove or change pit crew.

d) Deadline for swapping players is start of Practice 1.

    1. Rosters are locked until new price sheet is posted after most recently completed race.

    2. Rosters can be modified unlimited times before the current upcoming practice 1 deadline.  Final cost and swaps will only   be applied and permanent once the pre-practice deadline has been reached.

3. Any un-used swaps to cash or cash to swaps when roster lock will be returned to their original form, with no cost.

4) Franchise Driver

Anytime during the season tag one driver for immediate+10% race points, no cost to do so. The longer you keep the same driver th higher the bonus. At week 6 you will gain +15%, and at week 11 +20%.  Franchise tag will also have added bonus of being tie-breaker if opponent has no franchise driver.

The franchise tag is a commitment to keep that driver at least 5 races after tagging.  But drop that driver or tag another driver before the 5 races and incur a $1m charger price per race short of 5 races.

Click for Examples

Example:  You tag Vettel as you franchise driver on race 3, after great results in race 1 and 2.  During race 5 he breaks leg and is out for season.  Choosing to select another driver before race 6 you owe $2m for being 2 races short of 5 races.

5) Upgrade

a) For a one race cost of $.25m you can upgrade a driver/constructor for one race for a bonus of +20% race points (max. 15pts) for this one selection. Can be applied to one or more drivers/constructors each race. (all upgrades added up, then decimal rounded up)

(Note:  You can make set and remove upgrades up until rosters are locked.  But  once locked cost is permanently subtracted from your bank)

b) Team Bonus - Selecting 2 drivers from the same team will give +20% to both drivers totals (max 16pts). If both drivers and constructor are from same team you will receive +20% to both drivers and constructor of that matching team (max 30pts).

6) Swaps and ability to trade swaps for cash

Sell swaps for $.75m each or buy extra swaps for $1.5m each.

Click for Examples
Example:  Pumping starting budget up to 64 million by converting 6 trades to 4 million.  Allows better starting roster but only leaves 3 swaps for the rest of the season.

Or if backed into a corner at the end of the season you can throw in all the rest of your swaps (except one) and throwing all the additional money at upgrading constructor to try take the constructor championship.

7) Roster value changes

  a) Prices are based on each race performance. So when you get rid of a driver/constructor, think of it as selling at current price. You then have that much money plus “banked” money to buy new driver/constructor at their new current price. The $60m starting was not a cap, but rather all the fantasy money you had “banked” at the time to spend.

b) Roster values change according to the average between their current price and the value of their race finish position, rounded to the nearest $.5m, and max change of +/- $2m. (value of current race finish is starts at $32m for 1st, and moves down $1m for ever position)

Click for Examples

Example1: Driver is worth $28m and comes in 2nd (worth $31m.) Their value would move up to $29.5m, a +$1.5m move.

Example2: Driver is worth $23m and comes in 5th (worth $28m) Their value would move up to $25m, a +$2m move. (limited by $2m max move)

  c) Min/Max driver prices are $13m / $32m. Min/Max constructor prices are $7m / $25m

8) Injured & Retired Replacements

  a) If a driver is out for one race or permanently you have 2 choices:

     1. The driver's replacement will automatically be given to you at same value as replaced driver. You will score points acording to this replacements actions. (including any bonuses applied to original driver)

2. Claim injured drivers post-race value and buy a new driver (Does cost 1 swap)

a) A replaced drivers value will increase or decrease per there replacements results.
